Poker Table Tops

While it would be nice to have a fully furnished poker room in the house to dedicate the weekends to, it is not always practical or affordable to buy a professional style poker table to play on. However, since the breakfast table just won't do for a game of Texas Holdem poker, there are many varieties of poker table tops to choose from to still retain that genuine feel for the game.

Basically, a poker table top is built with indented grooves or a small compartment to hold your chips and a drinks glass cup holder for your preferred beverage. Some of them will have a specially designated dealer area with a place to keep extra card packs or a dealing shoe. The poker table top is designed to be laid on top of an existing kitchen or dining room table like a cover which has a nonskid bottom to hold it firmly in place. Beyond that, the possibilities are boundless.

Poker table tops come in various sizes and shapes to accommodate the special needs of the different games to be played. There are the round poker table tops for your basic mixed games as well as hexagonal poker table tops that give each player an individual edge to play on. These types of poker table tops are ideal for a fast and furious game of
Blackjack. Some of the poker table tops will be oval shaped and for those big nights of Texas Holdem, there are the large oval poker table tops that will seat up to ten people and have a specially designated space for the dealer.

Most of these portable poker table tops are constructed in such a way as to fold up for ease of storage when you need to have your table for some less important function like eating. There are various surface finishes you can get for your poker table top as well.
Some are covered with lacquered wood while for the traditionalist, there are varieties with the standard green or maroon felt. Some come with padded arm rests around the edge to give that extra bit of comfort for you and your opponents.

Another factor in deciding on a folding portable poker table top over a full poker table is the cost. A small poker table top can be acquired for less than a hundred dollars and even a giant ten person Texas Holdem poker table top will usually run no more that two hundred dollars and some change.
