Poker Magazines
If you are the type who likes to pick up new poker tips a little at a time rather than do the marathon read of all the poker instruction books at your local library, you may find it better to subscribe to one of the excellent poker player magazines on the market.
Before the big rise in popularity of poker a few years ago, there were only two magazines dedicated to the game of poker. Card Player magazine has always been the established leader in the field with great writers from the field of professional poker and articles from winners and lifetime poker players. While Card Player magazine has a rather hefty price tag, the editors glean through thousands of submissions to assure you the best possible information to improve your poker experience.
Hot on their heels is a relative newcomer. "All In: The Magazine for Poker Aficionados". While they run only six issues a year as opposed to the 26 that Card Player runs, All In magazine relies on only the top professionals to assure you quality articles about the game. Reviews of All In magazine vary. While some readers say you can find good solid articles there, they sometimes complain that All In will do the occasional "fluff" issue.
Bluff magazine takes a different approach to the poker game. Their articles are usually written by the "average" poker player and offers insights on how to tackle the professionals at their own game. They say its not always finesse that wins the pot but a very well run "bluff"! They are also more likely to give you good advice on such unrelated topics as the bets places to stay or find a good restaurant while you are on a poker vacation at one of the many casinos in the country.
The Internet has begun offering online poker e-magazines at many of the online casino sites. Most of these online poker magazines are offered free from the sites of origin as an incentive to play their tables. Some new online poker magazines hold to thematic trends like how to run poker parties, full tilt poker tournaments or how to play the differences between casino and online poker card games. If you have a flare for writing and want to share your knowledge, it is recommended you check out their writing guidelines and share your experience with the game. You can also pick up some well earned cash to take to the table on your next big poker night out.
